Meet Rich, our Founder! You will often find him on a ladder, or a scissor lift, under a tank, or with at least one tool in his hand, building something from scratch. If you don’t see him like that, then you can find him over on the cornhole boards perfecting his toss! Rich’s favorite beer is highly hopped IPA’s and he has a passion for kite surfing. Rich wanted to start BCB after moving to this area to find there was a need for a cool, fun place you could go and gather and we sure our glad he did!
Meet Sarah, our official curtain puller and owner! She is our tech guru, updates our website, handles our book keeping and a lot of the behind the scenes day to day business! Sarah has a passion for stand up paddle boarding and says the coolest place she’s ever boarded was the canals of Venice! In her (minimal) spare time she is also an adjunct professor teaching assistive technology classes.
Meet Sara, our BCB General Manager. You’ll often find her snapping photos for social media, booking events, designing swag, can labels and more. She joined the BCB team after spending a decade planning large scale alcohol and food festivals all over the East Coast. Outside of the taproom she has a passion for fun socks, traveling & pizza ... always pizza!
Meet Jim, our Head Brewer! Jim has been brewing professionally since 1999 and has won medals at both the GABF and World Beer Cup. Outside of brewing Jim enjoys playing poker, well not just playing but winning! His favorite food is Mexican, specifically carnitas and his favorite beer all depends on the season, his mood and the brewer who brews it!
Meet Joe, our BCB go-to guy and Assistant Manager! He handles our canning & distribution and also oversees day to day operations of the kitchen and taproom. Joe enjoys eating pasta and watching Game of Thrones on repeat! His favorite beer style is Stout and he has had a coffee stout on our menu named after him, Mornin’ Joe!
Meet Beth, assistant to the brewer. She is the inspiration behind our gluten free beers, ciders, seltzers & wine/beer hybrid. Beth is passionate about inclusivity within the beer community and is a member of the Pink Boots Society. When she is not brewing, you’ll find her watching Law & Order: SVU. Her one request is that “you bring all of your dogs here all of the time”.
It is always bittersweet to say goodbye to one of our own; however, we would like to congratulate Chef Dave Magdeburger in his new adventure and thank him for overseeing BCB Eats, the food side of B.C. Brewery, during the last two years. Dave was with us since before we opened our doors and was instrumental in helping us to create the positive atmosphere and success that we have enjoyed at B.C. Brewery. We wish him and Dory, our faithful four legged bar tender, well in their new upcoming solo endeavor—“Dave’s Smoke and Tacos”. Dave also asked us to pass a message along:
“Thank you Rich and Sarah Mak for allowing me to grow in the community that you created at B.C. Brewery. I am very thankful for the opportunity you provided to me and the trust you showed in me to oversee BCB Eats. To the staff and vendors I would like to say thank you for working so hard. I am so proud of the product that we were able to develop together. Finally, and most importantly, to the loyal customers of B.C. Brewery and BCB Eats, thank you for supporting our vision. It has truly been an honor and a pleasure to serve you. You all are the best customers EVER and you inspired me every day to give you my very best.
Please continue to support the BCB Eats crew as they introduce new menu items to compliment B.C. Brewery. Dory and I will miss working with them and wish them every success!”
